Flour, Eggs, and Chocolate

My name is Hannah and i'm 21 years old. Here I share a bit of me, my travels, and my life but mostly my overwhelming food obsession.

Burning Love. Yes, that is the name (translation) of this artery clogging delight of a Danish dish. It was made by my RA (a Dane) and was so freaking wonderful. It is mashed potatoes with a crap ton of fried bacon (grease included) with fried onions, ketchup, and pepper on top. aw yeah.

Final day in Nice. I ended it with a walk on the beach (rain and sunshine within an hour) and gelato sundae at Pinocchio’s. It had chocolate and tiramisu flavored gelato with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, pistachios, pieces of croissant, and baileys. WHAT! I know. Whoever thought of this is a genius.

You think you have had a strawberry.
You honestly think you have and I did too. Until you have had one in season from the street markets in southern France you have not had a strawberry. They are out of this world. I ate a box a day. They are as sweet as candy, melt in your mouth soft and insanely juicy. After my first bite I felt betrayed by all of the strawberries that preceded it for making me think they were strawberries.

Picnic! Tomatoes, strawberries, herb de provence dried sausage, muscadet white wine, baguettes, 3 differently aged goat cheeses, goat cheese sausage, and garlic sausage= the best meal ever. The view wasn’t so bad either.

If you are in Nice, France and you are thinking, “Hey a meal of the freshest, most deliciously wonderful seafood would be totally awesome right about now” then go to Cafe de Turin. Go. Just go. And order the langoustines. And the oysters. They are enormous. A Muscadet wine on the side and you are ready to go.

Walking on the beach in Nice, France!

Picnicking by the water! Baguettes, onion tarts, dried sausage, wine, cheese, tapenade, and fruit. Perfection!

So olive oil tastings are kind of weird and kind of awesome. Drinking straight oil is pretty gross seeing as the texture is OIL. But after doing a couple it was interesting seeing the difference. I also liked having the oil with bread and trying their olives. Such an awesome experience!

What did I do today? Just a cooking lesson while in Cannes, France. COOLEST DAY EVER!!!!! And the food was delicious too!

Dinner of wine and Niçoise style red mullet with a creme caramel for dessert (which I got a little too excited for and forgot to photograph…whoops).

Inside the winery of Chateau Sainte Roseline and wine tasting. I loved the red and the rose. I probably should have bought both but it is rare for me to actually like a rose so I bought it.

Winery #2! Chateau Sainte Roseline. I went on a tour of the winery and historic church/convent on the property. It was stunning.
